ARTIST STATEMENT | DesignArtist.SK

I am an emerging, aspiring graphic designer going by DesignArtist.SK – a personal branding that clearly emphasizes design combined with artistry that is reflected in most of my work.  My personal brand stands for quality and craftsmanship with a charming, bright elegance.  Rather than reproducing ubiquitous styles, I like being unique in my design work, producing something new, fresh, and unexpected.  I love creating designs that are very different from anything else out there.  I continuously improve myself, challenging myself to do better than my last design, creating designs that are better than my previous ones, all the while pushing my skills to the next level.

My personal avatar image reflects my love of patterns and my personal style: fresh, modern, and sophisticated.  The play on colors and patterns create intrigue to a rather simple black and white silhouette image of myself.  Unexpected, surprising, simple, yet meaningful design, the creativity in my design is influenced by stationery as well as arts and crafts – the mixture of textures, patterns, and paper crafts such as Origami.  I greatly admire Von Glitschka – a graphic designer renowned for his vibrant pattern designs.  Creating patterns is an area of strength for me which I would like to capitalize on to set myself apart from other graphic designers.  I hope to sell my trademark pattern designs in the near future to companies such as Target and Starbucks.  In terms of colors, I prefer harmonious color palettes that are bright and fresh, setting a hopeful, uplifting atmosphere.
